CCEIS -Elementary Education Tutor Job Description

Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate elementary tutor to provide academic support and guidance to students in grades K-2. The tutor will help students develop foundational literacy and numeracy skills through engaging and interactive lessons tailored to individual developmental needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions for K-2 students in foundational academic skills.
• Teach basic phonics including letter-sound relationships blending segmenting and decoding strategies.
• Support letter recognition for both uppercase and lowercase letters.
• Develop number recognition counting skills and basic mathematical concepts.
• Build phonemic awareness through rhyming sound identification and sound manipulation activities.
• Introduce and reinforce sight word recognition and high-frequency words.
• Support pre-writing and beginning writing skills including proper letter formation.
• Create age-appropriate hands-on lesson plans and practice materials based on individual student needs.
• Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
• Maintain detailed documentation of tutoring sessions student progress and learning milestones for progress tracking.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to support continued learning at home and school.
• Foster a positive encouraging and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Encourage early literacy habits and a love of learning.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree (or currently pursuing) in English Education or a related field.

• Previous experience tutoring or teaching middle school students preferred.

• Strong knowledge of middle school ELA curriculum and standards.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.

• Patience enthusiasm and a passion for education.
