The Cardiac Catheterization Lab Specialist II independently provides direct patient care in within the cardiac catheterization setting and supports cardiac catheterization processes and procedures through equipment maintenance and hygiene. This position collaborates with the healthcare team to provide advanced patient care during procedures ensuring precision and adherence to established protocols for optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
Assesses complex patients medical history and current condition to prepare them for cardiac catheterization procedures. Operates specialized equipment and monitors patients during procedures ensuring safety and optimal outcomes. Maintains a safe environment adheres to universal precautions and utilizes personal protective equipment to minimize risks and ensure the well-being of patients and staff. Collaborates closely with the healthcare team including physicians and technicians to facilitate smooth and successful procedures. Provides patient education and support before during and after cardiac cath lab procedures. Adheres to professional advancement program requirements engages in ongoing education and mentors others to promote professional growth and development to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field leading to improved patient care and clinical expertise. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: AS Degree in Hospital Adminstration or other Allied Health Curriculum.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 1 - 2 years of Radiology Technical experience >2 years Paramedic experience or >2 years of Critical Care or Emergency Department nursing experience.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: Radiology Technologist - Unencumbered ASRT Radiology Technologist licensure or Respiratory Therapist - Unencumbered North Carolina Respiratory Care Board Licensure -OR- Cardiovascular Technology Program - Graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular Program -OR- Paramedic - Unencumbered North Carolina EMT-P credentialing/accreditation and/or Paramedic Associate Degree from a credentialed and qualified Paramedic program Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS or RCES) if not obtain certification within 24 months of hire in the cath lab (is required for continued employment in the Cath Lab). Graduates from a Cardiovascular Program are required to complete RCIS certification within 3 months of employment. American Heart Association Health Care Provider course (BLS) preferred or should be completed within 6 months of hire.
