Job summary
The Fleet Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily fleet operations to ensure the efficient safe and timely movement of vehicles and drivers. This includes supervising dispatchers and team leaders managing vehicle availability ensuring compliance with company policies and transport regulations and optimizing fleet performance.
Main responsibilities
- Accountability
- Fleet Operations Oversight
- Supervise daily dispatching activities and ensure vehicle assignments meet operational requirements.
- Ensure timely execution of transport schedules and customer deliveries.
- Manage vehicle availability route planning issues and asset allocation.
- Lead and supervise dispatchers team leaders and sometimes drivers.
- Monitor staff performance and provide coaching or corrective action when needed.
- Schedule shifts assign duties and ensure adequate staffing for operations.
- Monitor vehicle movement and trip execution using GPS and tracking tools.
- Address operational issues such as delays route deviations or breakdowns.
- Coordinate corrective actions or escalations with relevant departments (maintenance safety etc.).
- Ensure adherence to transport laws driver working hours and company policies.
- Verify driver and vehicle documentation is valid and up-to-date.
- Report and investigate any incidents accidents or violations.
- Track key fleet performance metrics (on-time delivery utilization downtime etc.)
- Analyze performance data & Identify trends inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly operations reports for the Fleet Manager.
- Act as the point of contact between operations and management.
- Coordinate with maintenance HR and logistics teams to support fleet needs.
- Support implementation of fleet policies SOPs and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job requirements
- Required qualifications
- Minimum - Bachelors degree in Business Administration Operations Management or a related field.
- Preferred qualifications
- Masters degree in Business Administration or related field
- Required experience 8 years of experience in fleet/transport operations including 2 years supervisory experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fleet management / transport management systems.
- Knowledge of operational and legal requirements of heavy transport
- Preferred experience Experience in managing large fleet.
Knowledge & Skills
- Operational Processes Understanding of daily operations workflows and standard operating procedures.
- Budgeting and Financial Oversight Knowledge of budgeting cost control and financial reporting.
- Compliance and Regulations Familiarity with relevant laws industry standards and company policies.
- Team Leadership and Development Skills in supervising motivating and developing team members.
