About this opportunity

The primary purpose of the Production Manager is the overall management and performance of end-to-end operations producing an estimated 5000 tonnes of recycled resin per year.

The Production Manager is responsible for managing operations of the plastic recycling plant and leading transformation opportunities that drive innovation efficiency and sustainable growth. 

Whilst this position will be a day shift role you will have four direct reports Maintenance Fitter & three Shift Leaders operating on a 24/5 roster at the Wacol facility which will result in non-frequent site meetings across all shifts and supporting any breakdowns that occur.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead by example across all areas of accountability including WHSE Quality and Leadership promoting a Zero Harm Culture at all times
  • Identify process capability and product fit for manufacture issues which impact quality performance
  • Actively work with HR and the General Manager to develop train and succession plan across the operation
  • Manage the ER / IR programs across the business and ensure effective industrial climate to deliver the business outcomes
  • Work closely with the Maintenance team to ensure production efficiency (OEE) meets the customer and business requirements embedding a continuous improvement culture
  • Monitor and report on operational KPIs and initiate corrective actions via continuous improvement activities

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role youll have:

  • Ideally have a background in plastics recycling
  • Managed a similar industrial based manufacturing business
  • Sound background in managing and leading small teams
  • Worked in a 24/5 environment
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Open direct and respectful communication skills

Qualifications :

  • Relevant trade background (eg. Boilermaker fitter)
  • Tertiary qualifications (eg. Engineering)
