Job Summary:
This role is for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a long-term care facility. The CNA will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse assisting with activities of daily living collecting patient data and performing basic medical procedures. Previous long-term care and travel experience are required.
Location: Seward Alaska United States
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing dressing toileting and ambulation.
- Collect patient data such as vital signs weight and intake/output.
- Obtain and process specimens (urine stool sputum).
- Assist with feeding and meal delivery.
- Perform basic medical procedures such as incentive spirometry pulse oximetry and blood sugar checks (as permitted).
- Maintain and clean equipment.
- Document patient care accurately.
- Answer phones and direct calls.
- Perform other clerical and administrative tasks as assigned.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.
- Float within scope to meet facility needs.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Current CNA license (or ability to obtain an Alaska CNA license within 72 hours of signing).
- Proof of completion of a formal CNA training program (if no current CNA license).
- Minimum of one year of experience in long-term care.
- BLS certification.
- Valid drivers license and car insurance (or confirmation of alternative transportation).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- None specified.
Special Considerations:
- Previous travel experience is required.
- First-time CNAs are not accepted.
- On-call duty is not required.
- The facility will provide a vehicle for the travelers use subject to specific terms and conditions.
- The candidates permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility.
- A pending license is acceptable but the application must be submitted within 72 hours of signing.
- The CNA may be asked to occasionally rotate between day and night shifts to meet urgent staffing needs.
Scheduling:
- 4x12-hour variable shifts or 3x12-hour variable shifts (travelers choice).
- Shifts will be either days or nights depending on facility needs.
- Guaranteed 84 hours per two weeks with the possibility of being called off for one 12-hour shift per two weeks.
- Time off is approved on an individual basis.
- Block scheduling is not accommodated.
