The mission of the Professional Standards Divisions Civilian Statistical Analysis Unit is to analyze statistical data from the CCRB and internal discipline databases and perform proactive trend analysis at the individual command and Citywide levels with support from the Risk Analytics Unit to identify potential areas for mitigation.
The Professional Standards Division Civilian Complaint Statistical Analysis Unit seeks a qualified City Research Scientist II to assist with Department operations. The candidates responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Assist in maintaining Division databases and access other Department databases to provide the Department with data relevant to compliance research metrics through the use of several analytical programs and languages (eg. Cognos Python and SQL).
-Maintain data dictionaries and other relevant documentation related to data maintained and created by the Civilian Complaint Statistical Analysis Unit.
-Conduct routine data integrity checks on datasets. Identify and report issues and discrepancies in generated data.
-Conduct data maintenance and design general project automation tools to be used by staff.
-Create and maintain data visualization tools such as Power Bi dashboards.

Qualifications :
1. For Assignment Level I (only physical biological and environmental sciences and public health) A masters degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological or environmental science or in public health.
To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above candidates must have:
1. A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
2. A masters degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical biological environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least a masters degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in 2 above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in 1 and 2 above.

Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.
