The Faculty in Residence serves as a Visiting AssistantProfessor at Messina College while residing on the Brookline Campus of BostonCollege. As a fully residential community for first-generation Associates degreestudents Messina College students live and learn on this campus in two residentialvillages with access to all University programs and facilities.
The Faculty in Residence provides an academic presence leadership and mentorshipin the residence provide academic presence by
1) modeling and discussing academic life;
2) sharing their research and teaching interests with students through residence hall programming;
3) creating opportunities for their faculty colleagues to engage in seminars and lectures; and
4) encouraging reflection and dialogue about campus community and social issues within the context of an annually selected theme (e.g. justice and the common good etc.).

Qualifications for Faculty in Residence
Living on campus is a requirement of this position. As such Faculty in Residence areprovided a furnished apartment in a residence hall on the Brookline Campus with freebasic utilities (electricity water and internet). A partial dining stipend is also provided forengagement with students on campus.
This is a live-in year-to-year appointment. The initial contract is for one year and isrenewable once after favorable review for a maximum of 2 years. The Faculty inResidence is provided with a one course reduction per year. A programming plan andbudget is reviewed monthly with the Dean and the Assistant Director of Residential Lifeand Student Engagement.
For Academic Year 2025-26 Messina College invites applications for the position of VisitingAssistant Professor of English to teach First-Year Writing Introduction to Literature and PublicSpeaking. The teaching load is 6 courses per year with the anticipated distribution of 2courses in the summer and 2 courses in each of the fall and spring semesters. Arelease of one course per year is offered for faculty-in-residence responsibilities.
