Associates degree in an appropriate area of specialization or a high school diploma and two years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
The OPS Laboratory Research Technician position is open in the UF IFAS Crop Transformation Center ( This position is primarily a research-oriented position. The primary focus will be research as well as assisting in daily research laboratory operations and will be assigned on a daily basis. Research responsibility includes recombinant DNA transformation technology plant tissue culture and plant transformation. The ability to maintain detailed records of experiments is essential for this position. Training will be provided on-site but prior laboratory training is a plus.
Additional duties include attending lab meetings performing routine lab procedures basic laboratory maintenance preparing stock buffer solutions maintaining laboratory stocks and equipment and organizing supplies as needed.
The person in this position is expected to work at least 20 hours per week with flexibility in scheduling as agreed upon at hiring.
$18 per hour

Bachelors Degree in Biology Microbiology Biotechnology Biochemistry or a similar relevant field.
Basic laboratory skills and plant tissue culture.
