A Brief OverviewUnder the general supervision of the Pharmacy leadership the Director plans directs and oversees the clinical and distributive pharmacy services for the assigned facility. The Director is responsible for creating and maintaining a hiring and retention plan for pharmacy personnel ensuring that an effective schedule is in place and creating and adhering to a budget for operations and capital for the department. The director will actively participate in the appropriate/assigned local and system level management team(s) to ensure standardization and integration with other areas and facilities while optimizing performance at the local site. The Director will also provide leadership to various committees of the organization.
What you will do
- Plans directs and oversees the clinical and distributive pharmacy services for the hospital and/or related areas to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and to provide optimal patient care.
- Develops and maintains a plan for recruiting hiring and maintaining a pharmacy workforce while ensuring an effective staffing plan/schedule is in place to meet the needs of the department.
- Accountable for the ongoing operations of the department with regard to established safety/quality standards established goals and objectives and efficiency and productivity standards.
- Actively participates in the appropriate system management team(s) to ensure the development of and adherence to system standards and practices.
- Assures the establishment and maintenance of standards of practice competency-based orientation and continuing education programs for the department.
- Establishes and maintains clinical and operational systems that insure maximum resource utilization and financial performance of the department. Responsible for budget for the department.
- Participates in multi-disciplinary teams and leads to teams to develop patient-centered services designs and implements corresponding programs and measures their effectiveness within the Health Systems goals related to cost quality and patient outcomes.
- Provides leadership and ensures pharmacy representation on committees service lines and work groups related to the development of medication use and pharmacy services ensuring quality patient care and delivery of services.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the practice of pharmacy.
- Maintains state of the art technical skills by review of literature professional journals and participation in professional groups.
- Responsibilities include interviewing hiring developing training and retaining employees; planning assigning and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Pharmacist - Board of Pharmacy active in the state(s) of practice Upon Hire
- Hospital Pharmacy Practice experience
Preferred Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Doctorate (PHD) from an accredited School of Pharmacy
- Some College Completion of ASHP Accredited Pharmacy Residency
- BPS Certification - Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Board certification by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Upon Hire
