Job Summary
Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technician II (MLT II) in their role as testing personnel is responsible for specimen processing test performance and reporting test results. Each individual performs only those tests authorized by the laboratory director and that require a degree of skill aligned with the individuals education training experience and technical abilities. Under general supervision the MLT II carries out all policies and performs all tests in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures. The role requires independent organized work to ensure accurate results and documentation. It involves a professional level of knowledge to read and interpret test results used by providers for diagnosing and treating diseases.

Essential Functions
After successful orientation training and competency assessment follow all applicable instrument/method protocols as outlined by CLIA.
Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing test analysis reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
Adhere to quality control policies document all quality control activities and record instrument/procedure calibrations and maintenance.
Follow established corrective action policies and procedures when test systems do not meet acceptable performance levels.
Identify and resolve problems affecting test performance or reporting; if unable notify appropriate supervisory or technical staff.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications (42 CFR 493..1495).

Associates Degree Laboratory Sciences required or Associates Degree Medical Laboratory Technology required and

- Must have an understanding of laboratory equipment and its operation maintenance and repair and analytic techniques.

- Must have the ability to pay careful attention to detail and to adhere to written protocols including communication with supervisors when issues are identified.
