Job Description

Director of Technology and Data SystemsReports to: The SuperintendentRole Summary: The Director of Technology and Data Systems for the Barrington Public Schools will be responsible for leading Information Technology functions across the district including infrastructure planning and management device selection procurement and management budgeting support services and vendor management. This position also supports all data and accountability systems across the district including assessment systems data analysis and RIDE reporting. This position requires exceptional communication and leadership skills. Candidates should possess a combination of experience in leading strong data-driven practices in schools implementing instructional technology and an overall understanding of technology and IT : Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Information Systems Communications and Technology or a related field required. A masters degree is strongly preferred. Five (5) years of experience integrating technology and/or providing technology services in an educational environment including at least three (3) years in a supervisory capacity managing teams projects and vendor relationships. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Information Technology (IT) LeadershipOversee all aspects of the Technology department supporting 7 buildings and approximately 450 employees and 3500 students. Provide leadership for the technology program including short and long-range planning establishing vision goals program objectives policies and infrastructure requirements staffing training evaluation budgeting and collaboration with othersServes as a clearinghouse of information on trends research applications and effective practices related to the use of technology in the Planning and AccountabilityLead data management efforts working closely with Data Manager local and statewide stakeholders in meeting state and federal reporting and lead planning and execution of cybersecurity efforts to maintain system integrity and minimize risk of vision goals program objectives policies infrastructure requirements staffing training evaluation budgeting and collaboration with others. Support the expanding role of data-driven decision making within the district including coordinating the collection storage and analysis of local and state assessments and any other data collected for analysis purpose Establish and maintain standards for the purchase of equipment software related media and supplies for instructional technology integration and management activities according to the local purchasing guidelines and state and local technology plans. Data and Accountability LeadershipPlan develop and implement staff development activities to meet instructional administrative and clerical technology needs. Supports school staff in the operation of instructional and administrative technology systems. Assist with network and equipment troubleshooting to isolate diagnose and resolve problems. Communicate effectively and professionally regularly with all facets of the school and execute a variety of complex tasks with minimal technical solutions to gain process efficiency and improve data School Committee Meetings when all other duties as assigned by the of Employment: This is a 12 month position. Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent or designee.
