Role Overview

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Hillel at Indiana University as theIACT(Inspired Active Committed Transformed) Birthright Israel and Community Engagement Coordinator.At Indiana University home to 4500 Jewish undergraduate students and 500 Jewish graduate students your work will meet students where they are sparking curiosity and building accessible pathways to Jewish engagement throughBirthright Israel and other peer-centered community engagement initiatives.

This is a student-facing role designed so that you can drive our Birthright Israel and community engagement strategy forward. The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills and previous successful implementation of creative ideas either from their own college experience or previous employment. Personal experience with Greek life is preferred but not mandatory. This is more than a jobits a mission to shape the next generation of Jewish leaders and changemakers.

The role centers around 3 core areas:

• Recruitment for Birthright Israel summer and winter immersive trips utilizing the IACT model for engagement and recruitment.
• Pre- and post-trip engagement and Jewish identity development
• Oversight of Greek life engagement through Hillels Greek Jewish Council and learning cohorts for emerging Greek student leaders.

What Youll Do

IACT Birthright Israel Recruitment & Engagement (55%)

• Staff and oversee the recruitment and marketing for two trips annually summer and winter.
• Serve as the main point of contact for our trip organizer.
• Organize and coordinate participant interviews and manage the Birthright Israel pipeline participant list.
• Mentor and supervise Birthright Israel interns.
• Curate pre-trip orientations and post-trip reunions to build a cohesive and tight-knit cohort experience.
• Provide personalized follow-up and educational opportunities to help Birthright Israel alumni stay engaged in Jewish life and strengthen their connection to Judaism Israel and Hillel
• Track outreach and engagement data and report outcomes to stakeholders.

Community Engagement(25%)

• Execute a strategic approach to community engagement by piloting kickstarting and supporting micro-communities focused on identity- or interest-based groups.
• Empower students to lead and build community mentoring student leaders as they create their own programs events and initiatives rooted in Jewish life.
• Build strong relationships with Jewish students participating in Greek life. Oversee IU HIllels Greek Life Council (GJC)
• Lead two cohort-based learning courses focused on Israel and Greek Jewish Leadership for emerging leaders.
• Facilitate regular programming in key residential and community spaces to foster meaningful relationships and create vibrant Jewish experiences where students already are.

Team & Overall Engagement Responsibilities(20%)

• Hold at least 5 student conversations per week leading to the development of 180 personal 1 on 1 relationships annually.
• Collaborate closely with the rest of the team to ensure alignment with the broader engagement strategy.
• Staff community-wide socials large scale events and Shabbat and holiday programming to ensure each and every student feels warmly welcomed into IU Hillels community.
• Participate in ongoing professional development through Hillel International and the IACT network.

What Youll Bring to the Job

• A Bachelors degree and 0-3 years of professional work experience. Prior Hillel experience is a plus but not required.
• Prior participation in Birthright Israel/Israel immersive experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong entrepreneurial spirit and excitement about the limitless possibilities of engaging every Jewish student.
• A positive attitude and approach your work with curiosity humor and a growth mindset.
• You are flexible understanding that things may not always go according to plan and you are willing to problem-solve and adapt.
• Ability to collaborate across teams both inside and outside of Hillel.

• A competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The starting salary range for this role is $46000-$55000 commensurate with experience.
