Ashland Middle School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Long-Term Substitute Computer Science Teacher to cover a leave of absence from late August through late December. This position involves teaching middle school students in grades 68 and delivering engaging instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Digital Literacy and Computer Science Framework.
Responsibilities include:
Teaching computer science and digital literacy to students in grades 68
Creating and implementing lesson plans that foster student interest and growth in areas such as coding robotics digital citizenship and computational thinking
Maintaining a safe inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Collaborating with grade-level and related arts teams to support student learning
Communicating regularly with families and staff regarding student progress
Assessing student understanding and adjusting instruction accordingly
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required; degree in Computer Science Education or related field preferred
Massachusetts teaching license (Digital Literacy & Computer Science 512 or Technology/Engineering) preferred but not required
Experience working with middle school students preferred
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Familiarity with platforms such as Scratch Google Workspace and other educational technology tools is a plus
Full-Time
