Job Description

POSITION:HeadGirls LacrosseCoach2025-2026

LOCATION:James F. Byrnes High School

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of the assigned sport. Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport preferred. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administrator may deem appropriate.

REPORTS TO:Athletic Director/Principal

GENERAL SUMMARY:

To organize coordinate and promote a comprehensive athletics program in the assigned sport this is designed to meet the needs and interests of the school community. To provide effective leadership that will ensure a positive learning environment and will stress the importance of academic achievement. To demonstrate a high degree of ethics professionalism human relations and be a positive role model for all students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Comply with the rules and regulations of Spartanburg School District Five South Carolina High School League the Conference and Region.
  2. Prepare and submit an annual budget to the Director of Athletics and follow the procurement policies and school policies involving financial transactions. Prepare reports inventory and recommendations for equipment.
  3. Communicate to all participants the policies of the team local school and School Board relating to school sponsored activities.
  4. Submit forms as required by the South Carolina High School League the School Board and local school; i.e. eligibility rosters players addresses etc.
  5. Be responsible for the assigned athletic program; establish procedures for communicating with parents/guardians.
  6. Plan organize and implement the teaching of fundamentals strategies rules and proper conditioning in the assigned sport.
  7. Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship; compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records; participate in the awards programs(s) according to school procedure.
  8. Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program at all times; provide for the safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment and being aware of environmental conditions.
  9. Issue collect inventory and store equipment consistent with department guidelines.
  10. Instruct participants in safety procedures and in the need to report injuries to the coach and/or trainer immediately; implement appropriate procedures for handling injury situations; ensure the availability of a properly supplied first aid kit and emergency care cards at all times.
  11. Attend all district athletic meetings and share policies and procedures with students and staff.
  12. Represent the school in professional conduct manner and dress.
  13. Inform students of the insurance program available through Spartanburg School District Five.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and Principal.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The position primarily involves duties in outdoor and athletic settings including practices and meets with occasional indoor administrative responsibilities. The role requires sustained physical activity the ability to supervise student-athletes in varied weather conditions and the capacity to respond quickly in active environments. While moderate physical demands are expectedsuch as lifting and moving equipment up to 25 poundsthe focus is on mobility and engagement during training and competitions. Some local travel for events is required; occassional overnight travel is likely. The role also includes standard administrative tasks involving basic office equipment.
