Job Summary:
The State of Maine Department of Transportation is seeking a Senior Developer / Data Architect with deep expertise in Oracle-based data architecture and development. This individual will support and lead critical data initiatives including the development of automated ETL processes system migrations and data modernization efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as subject-matter expert for Oracle technologies and data architecture at MDOT.
- Design and implement enterprise-class data repositories on Oracle (on-prem and cloud-hosted).
- Develop and maintain automated ETL processes integrating data from flat files DBs and APIs.
- Model dimensional and tabular data structures.
- Use Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) for BI solutions.
- Write complex SQL and PL/SQL scripts procedures and views.
- Provide mentorship to senior and junior developers.
- Develop architectural diagrams and system documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams and business stakeholders.
- Proactively research identify and implement technical solutions.
- Monitor and maintain database performance and health.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 5 years as a Data Architect.
- Senior-level experience in Oracle databases (on-prem and cloud).
- Strong background in ETL development from flat files and diverse DB sources.
- Mastery in SQL and PL/SQL.
- Experience with Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC).
- Strong skills in dimensional modeling and tabular data models.
- Ability to develop automated data pipelines and support production-grade systems.
- Skilled in creating and maintaining documentation metadata and code comments.
- Familiarity with API integration for automated data refreshes.
- Strong mentoring and technical leadership skills.
