What We Are Looking For

Managing and directing clinical informatics analysts and BI Developers. The Manager Clinical Informatics is responsible for the development implementation process improvement and evaluation of clinical information systems (Epic) to support patient care. The Manager will lead a team of Informatics Analysts and BI developers in the planning design and development of the Epic EHR Epic Cogito (Data Analytics) Snowflake Datawarehouse and other systems that support the organizations clinical operations. The Manager will also monitor the use of applications and systems to assess their effectiveness and recommend changes and improvements. Additionally the manager will work alongside clinicians medical directors ACMOs and other key stakeholders to design develop and implement systems and processes that improve patient care within the Epic Ambulatory and Cadence applications.

Schedule: 4 days per week 10 hours per day Monday - Thursday 7:00 am - 5:30 pm Location: Brier Clinic San Bernardino CA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLE

  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff on clinical informatics initiatives special task forces data warehouse development and optimization (process improvement) epic projects.
  • Collaborate with clinical stakeholders to develop and implement EHR best practices workflow redesigns (process improvement) and data metric standards.
  • Manage clinical informatics system projects delegated by IT Director CIO and CMO.
  • Acts as the bridge between the IT department and the rest of the clinical healthcare operations.
  • Manages the analysis of data reports information flowcharts and gap analysis to find trends and correct inefficiencies to improve the quality of patient care.
  • Manages the development and analysis of reports of Tableau dashboards to support data needs for leadership at the agency. May also include Epic workbench reporting.
  • Acts as liaison by working alongside providers nursing staff patient access staff medical directors and required ACMOs on a weekly basis providing updates on high priority projects related to the EHR Epic.
  • Accountable for database management knowledge to oversee data repositories and the dissemination of data daily. Encompass analytical skills to solve data-related issues and develop solutions.
  • Encompass the knowledge of clinical terminology workflows and processes to tailor Epic application specifically for better use. Must have solid communication skills to work with medical professionals and be capable of presenting ideas and findings to upper management on a quarterly basis.
  • Responsible for the implementation of Epic configuration enhancements workflow development clinical reporting development and sustaining the new process moving forward with data metrics utilization.
  • Lead the adoptions of solutions during sac health expansions including organizational change management to all clinical leadership and supporting departments such as nursing clinical primary care specialties patient access call center referrals HIM etc.
  • Manages and implements standard process improvement methods such as: Kaizen Lean methodology six sigma Kanban value stream analysis gap analysis (A3) etc.
  • Manage all data repositories to flow into cloud-based data warehouse and design data integration solutions with MuleSoft engine and API calls.
  • Ability to be flexible to assist in all departmental areas when needed and travel to clinics as necessary; must have a reliable vehicle valid drivers license and auto insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Information Technology Healthcare Informatics or related field required. Experience in lieu of degree will be considered - see experience.
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid California drivers license and auto insurance. As a requirement of this position you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into. EPIC (1 modules) preferred. Preferred certifications: EPIC certifications in Ambulatory Cadence Cogito Clarity and/or Caboodle Six Sigma certification for process improvement methodology and/or Lean management certification AHIMA healthcare certifications in (RHIA) registered health information administrator (RHIT) registered health information technician.
  • Required Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of clinical application support and/or informatics-related experience AND two (2) years working in a Supervisor/Lead capacity is required. In lieu of a degree five (5) years of IT experience AND a minimum of two (2) years working in a Supervisor/Lead capacity required.
  • Preferred experience: Five (5) years of clinical application support and/or informatics-related experience project management quality improvement or clinical research a strong understanding of clinical processes related to integrated clinical systems the ability to design data visualizations and dashboards for end-user-friendly presentation and metrics workflow analysis process improvement and implementing solutions for clinical staff and demonstrated success in quality improvement or research projects managing clinical information system optimization projects and large healthcare organizations. Nursing experience desirable.
  • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Proficient in O365 applications. Mastery level in MS Visio and PowerPoint. Preferred Tableau application experience. Proficient in Epic Reporting Workbench (RWB). Experience working with EHR systems.
  • Proficiency in using health information systems (including EMR systems like EPIC) and familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHRs)
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to function independently at a high level while collaborating with the project team and stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create strong relationships in a professional setting. Strong ability to discover and map clinical/business processes and associated data/insight needs. Strong self-directed organizational and time management skills including the ability to work independently prioritize multiple projects and assignments and deliver high quality work in a timely manner.
  • Essential Mental Abilities: Strong analytical problem solving and critical thinking skills. Very organized. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to adjust delivery appropriately for various audiences. Strong ability to explain technical and clinical informatics concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
