Job Description
Overview
DEPARTMENT: Youth Department
REPORTS TO: Corps Officer
SUPERVISES: Potential Youth Volunteers
STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Part Time
FUNCTION: Responsible for coordinating youth ministries. The Youth Coordinator will plan organize and facilitate quality youth programs by providing ministry support oversight to all after school programs and oversight to any summer enrichment program at The Salvation Army
Responsibilities
DUTIES:
a) Maintain a daily devotional and prayer life
b) Weekly participation in Corps Worship Service (Holiness Meeting)
c) Work in unity with the Corps Officers and Youth Peoples Sergeant Major (where applicable) to ensure programming excellence in all aspects of youth ministries
d) Develop and maintain a healthy working relationship with all persons in accordance with the practices and policies of The Salvation Army
e) Coordinate and implement the evangelism discipleship & leadership development of the young people involved in corps programs including opportunities for new ministry initiatives
f) Plan and implement recruitment leadership development & training opportunities to increase the quality and effectiveness of volunteer staff
g) Regular contact and visitation of those that participate in youth activities and their families
h) Provide leadership and support for youth Sunday School classes and other youth programming
i) Provide leadership and support as needed for youth activities such as Junior Soldiers Corps Cadets Bible Bowl Music Programs VBS Troops Programs etc.
j) Recruit coordinate and transport kids attending camp Youth Councils young adult gatherings & other divisional events
k) Maintain all records of attendance & statistics for related program
l) Maintain clean work and program areas
m) Maintain youth programming throughout the year including Christmas and summer break
n) Attend all required Youth Ministries Coordinator meetings conducted by Territorial and Divisional Youth Departments
o) Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong personal Christian values and high moral character
Creative program ability
Strong organizational skills
Ability to be a team member and function in a work alone situation to complete tasks
Intermediate level computer skills
Valid Drivers License and able to drive a 12-passenger van
A Uniform wearing Salvationist preferred
Musical ability preferred but not a must
Must be available to work evenings and weekends
Must complete and keep up to date KeepSAfe and other requirements
Must remain and keep confidentiality
Must embrace and promote the mission of The Salvation Army
