Description of Job

The Plumbing and Utilities Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and management of all plumbing and piping systems across the campus. This includes the repair installation and maintenance of building piping utility infrastructure (domestic water steam gas and sewer systems) and campus swimming pools and spas.

Reporting to the Utility Operations Manager this position supervises a team of Pipe/Mechanical Trades I and II personnel and plays a critical role in ensuring system reliability safety and compliance with applicable codes and standards.

This position assists in the preparation of budget requests for maintenance water treatment and utilities infrastructure costs. It provides technical support as the campus Plumbing subject matter ex-pert for new construction installation maintenance and repair of all plumbing/piping related matters as well as utility infrastructure projects. This position holds a State of Colorado Master Plumber license The Colorado State Plumbing Contractors license for the campus. A Backflow Prevention Testing Certificate as well as a Certified Pool Operators permit must be obtained within 1 year of employment.

Please note - this position is on campus Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance and repair of commercial and/or industrial Plumbing which included supervision of plumbing personnel. (Part-time work will be pro-rated).

  • Must possess and maintain a current a State of Colorado Master Plumber license (A legible copy of the current certificate/license must be submitted at the time of application).

  • Computer experience is required in order to process work orders purchase and track materials and prepare documents.

  • A Backflow Prevention Testing Certificate as well as a Certified Pool Operators permit must be obtained within 1 year of employment.

OR

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education formalized apprenticeship program and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to four (4) years. (Transcripts must be attached for educational credit).

Desired Qualifications

  • Current Backflow Prevention Testing Certificate
  • Current Certified Pool Operators permit
  • Experience with steam distribution systems
  • Experience in facilities management
  • Experience in service plumbing
  • Pipefitting experience
  • Prior relevant state experience
Necessary Special Requirements
A current Colorado Driver License is required and must be maintained during employment. Must have a clean driving record with no DUI/DWAI convictions within the past five years. (A copy of your current motor vehicle record (MVR) will be required as a condition of hire).
