Job Description
Reporting to the Facilities Manager of Preventive Maintenance the Trades/Utilities Master Mechanic maintains inspects services and repairs electrical and mechanical equipment in assigned academic building. This position troubleshoots and repairs any mechanical or electrical failures responds to trouble calls to shutdown equipment and make repairs in a safe manner and inspects buildings for safety hazards and repair as needed. This position performs preventive maintenance on HVAC Electrical and Mechanical equipment on a set schedule. This position is responsible for providing material list with part numbers for such preventive maintenance.
This position is designated Emergency Personnel which requires employees to report to work during emergency situations and closings.
Required Qualifications
Current Virginia Journey or Master Level license in electrical plumbing trade or HVAC trades.
OR current Journey or Master level licensing agreement (reciprocity) from another jurisdiction (State)as approved by the Virginia Board for Contractors which must be converted within 6 months.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience at the journey level in electrical and mechanical trades in an industrial commercial or institutional trades environment.
Working knowledge of blueprints technical drawings and/or sketches.
Recordkeeping experience.
Ability to learn and use the computerized Facilities work order system to enter time obtain create and edit work orders and request materials.
Must have excellent communication skills; be able to understand comprehend and follow directions in the workplace have good team work skills and work independently without direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a large commercial or educational setting.
Experience with an online work order management system.
Previous lead worker and/or supervisory experience.
