Technician II Prototyping - Engineering


Skills and Responsibilities:

  • 5 years of demonstrated Machining experience including manual mill/lathe equipment programming setup and operation.
  • Responsible for Additive machine set-up and printing parts from CAD models provided by internal customers including: FDM SLS technologies
  • Perform part post-processing / surface finishing work after each build to make parts presentable for customer use
  • Must be able to paint plastic weld and apply adhesives as needed
  • Ability to operate the following equipment Band Saws Drill Presses High Tonnage Presses Grinders Manual Mills Manual Lathes
  • Demonstrated ability in Solidworks Pro/Engineer-PTC Creo for model manipulation
  • Ability to operate Windows Outlook Word PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proven ability to work with all metals composites and plastics.
  • Engineering print reading ability
  • Manages raw material ordering and receiving processes
  • Maintains knowledge of prototype build processes and suggests new processes and additional equipment to be used.
  • Builds/rebuilds prototype parts test fixtures and/or complete machines per prints sketches or verbal instructions.
  • Makes recommendations on design or redesign for product improvements or cost reductions.
  • Drive continuous improvement. Escalate issues and make improvements where necessary.
  • Meet required project timelines and deadlines
  • Leads Preventative maintenance activities on equipment
  • Shipping and receiving duties when needed
  • Must be a self-starter and complete projects without continual supervision.
  • Must be able to communicate and work well with others.
  • Interact and provide support to engineering customers for development work and projects
  • Demonstrate professionalism with all Polaris employees and outside business contacts.
  • Follow all Polaris Safety and Environmental policies
  • Obtains a Forklift license to operator all lifts.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma plus two years vocational school training in the fabrication / machining trade
  • 10 years previous fabrication/prototyping experience is required
  • Manual machining ability is required

The starting pay range for Minnesota is $25.00 to $34.00 per hour plus overtime. Individual pay and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education experience knowledge skills and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.

To qualify for this position former employees must be eligible for rehire and current employees must be in good standing.
