Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days totaling 80 hours worked and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) to join our team. The successful individual will work under general direction possess specialized knowledge and expertise in planning coordinating and delivering comprehensive occupational health independent nursing interventions and appropriate collaborative strategies with other healthcare professionals in accordance and within the applicable Nurse Practice Acts.

The role involves planning organizing and coordinating health screening regulatory medical surveillance exams and emergency and non-emergency medical services and treatments for employees across multiple US locations.

The ideal candidate will initiate Workers Compensation (WC) claims in compliance with internal processes and state regulations. Apply case management principles in handling WC Claims to effectively support injured workers ensuring they receive appropriate medical care and guidance throughout their recovery and return to work.

Supports disability case management process by maintaining compliance with ADA AA and FMLA. Works with SH&E direct supervisors to implement appropriate safety and health programs for the prevention of injuries and illnesses.

Work with EH&S and Leadershipto implement appropriate safety and health process programs for the prevention of injuries and illnesses. Collaborate with others in training programs related to emergency response safety and OSHA mandated programs such as CPR/ AED/First Aid Bloodborne Pathogen and Respiratory Protection. Assist in site specific environmental health and safety events and programs.

Essential Functions:

  • 30% Health Screening and Medical Surveillance:Organize coordinate and administer health screenings and regulatory examinations. Administer Medical Surveillance programsper OSHA requirements or company standards including frequency and scheduling and performance of required screenings. Review data from medical examinations and screenings to identify trends determine if protective measures are effective or need to be enhanced.
  • 10 %Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements related to workplace health including proper recordkeeping and reporting as per OSHA NIOSH ADA AA FMLA and other relevant guidelines. Maintain accurate records of activities and required reporting.
  • 10% Emergency and Non-Emergency Situations:apply sound professional judgment in managing medical responses in both emergency and non-emergency immediate assessment and nursing intervention to injured and/or ill employeesprepare internal incident and or other state required reports.
  • 15%Workers Compensation (WC) Management: Ensure timely and accurate reporting of Workers Compensation cases in accordance with internal processes and state regulations. Apply a case management approach to handle Workers Compensation cases from inception to resolution. Provide support to injured workers throughout the recovery process including coordinating medical care and facilitating return-to-work. Maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders including employees EH&S HR supervisors external health care professionals clinics and insurance claim representatives.
  • 15% Technical Proficiency: Apply strong functional computer knowledge in using Microsoft Windows and applications Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software and other specialized software and medical diagnostic equipment. Ensure all case documentation is complete accurate current and compliant with HIPPA and OSHA record keeping requirements.
  • 10% Substance Abuse Policy: Perform necessary collection or testing in support of the companys substance abuse policy and random selection program.
  • 8% -Health Education Advises and counsels employees on health problems and provides health education information and referrals
  • 7%-Training: Educate employees on health and safety best practices and may conduct training programs related to emergency response safety protocols and OSHA-mandated training such as CPR/AED/First Aid Bloodborne Pathogen and Respiratory Protection
  • 4% Inventory Management: Maintain medical equipment and supply inventory needed for clinic operations.
  • 3 % Administer Medications per signed protocols.
  • Travel: 10% -occasional out-of-state travel up to 3 times yearly to meet with injured workers medical providers and external clinics at other company locations.

Qualifications:

  • Current unencumbered registered nursing license
  • Bachelors Degree and minimum 6 years of prior nursing experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior nursing experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 10 years of prior nursing experience.
  • Physically able to respond to emergency situations in extreme temperature.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Basic Life Support- CPR/AED is desired.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and with external partners and influence others to accept individual or team views or practices and changes to concepts or matters of importance to the functional or business area.
  • Actively recommend enhancements to systems and processes for ongoing growth and development while working toward achieving operational targets that affect departmental results.
  • Manage projects and processes related to occupational health aligned with departmental goals.

Certification or similar credentials are desirable. This includes

  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist Case Management(COHN/COHN-S or OHNCM).
  • NIOSH Spirometry Certification.
  • Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC)
  • DOT/non-DOT urine drug testing collection.
