Salary Range:$60070 - $61985 pending experience
Tenure: Full Time Permanent
Commencing Date: Monday 28 July 2025
Closing Date: Friday 18 July 2025

About the role
Holy Spirit Catholic School Cranbrook is seekingan experienced and dedicated Groundsperson to join their team. The role is full time permanent and will commence on 28 July 2025.
The Groundsperson under the direction of the Principal contributes to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of maintenance and upkeep of the school grounds. The Groundsperson will be required to assess repairs quickly to enable maximum safety at all times. The Groundsperson will work with limited supervision under the direction of the Principal.

Our commitment to these standards requires that we conduct working with children checks and background referencing for all persons who will engage in direct and regular involvement with children and young people and/or adults-at-risk. The organisation is fully committed to child safety and has a zero tolerance to abuse of children or adults-at-risk.
Key Accountabilities
The Groundsperson will be expected to work within and adhere to Workplace Health and Safety guidelines and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to work independently.
Other duties include:
- Attend regular meetings with the Grounds Supervisor/Principal for allocation of tasks
- Maintain lawn trim trees overhanging infrastructure hedging blowing down and outdoor vacuuming
- Assist with constant upkeep and upgrading of school grounds and gardens including fertilising poisoning landscaping and minor irrigation checks and repairs as required
- Bin runs rubbish removal tilling sandpits and pressure cleaning
- Assist with setting up for school functions and displays
- Carry out minor repairs to the College property and equipment including:
- Assist with marking playing fields
- Routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery and sheds including external cleaning
- Assist with general maintenance upkeep and cleaning duties as reasonably requested
- Other related duties as reasonably requested by the Principal.
- The ability to organise and prioritise a range of tasks and set priorities to meet deadlines in a busy environment.
MandatoryCriteria
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
- Current Drivers Licence
- Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
- This position will be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment to support the selection process.
Desirable Criteria
- Relevant certificate or trade qualification.
