Job Description

Overview

Location: Greater Hartford Area Services (Hartford CT)

Hours Per Week: 40

Schedule: MondayFriday 8:00 am 4:00 pm

Scope of Position: Collaborate with the Greater Hartford Area Coordinators Corps Officers other employees and DHQ staff to support and oversee social services programs within the Greater Hartford Area Services (GHAS). Serve as the grants manager for all GHAS social service programs. Provide support for both short- and long-term disaster recovery needs as necessary. Ensure that all programs align with The Salvation Armys mission and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of The Salvation Army and other entities governing the distribution of services.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all job-related matters.
  • Provide administrative oversight to various social service programs including but not limited to monitoring of personnel functions monthly statistical submission payroll compliance goal achievement file accuracy monthly financial spending budget adherence contract compliance gift-in-kind reporting safety cleanliness and facility upkeep.
  • Assist Corps Officers in prioritizing bridging those served through our social service programs into the mainstream of the Armys congregational (Corps) life. A bridging plan should be included in every program proposal.
  • Ensure consistency of compassion and the maximum quality and compliance in delivering basic professional social service standards in all programming throughout GHAS.
  • Maintain a professional and organized workspace setting a tone that reflects professionalism and ensuring efficient operations.
  • Monitor program delivery to ensure quality services and research best practices to maximize program effectiveness.
  • Review and manage all client grievances related to the GHAS social service programs.
  • Provide direct supervision to social service staff and approved volunteers including recommendations and training performance evaluation completion support accountability adherence to policies and procedures compliance with grant and contract requirements and program alignment with The Salvation Armys mission.
  • Conduct meetings with staff from all sites to celebrate victories provide direction address concerns and challenges share best practices and review program goals and upcoming deadlines.
  • Conduct weekly or bi-weekly supervision with direct supervisees and engage all GHAS staff in professional development.
  • Ensure annual evaluations as well as probationary reviews are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure staff and volunteer credentials are maintained and ongoing educational requirements are met.
  • Oversee staff scheduling to ensure all services are provided and maintain staff-to-client ratios.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to write grant applications review contracts and submit reports for social service programs.
  • Coordinate all donor activity with the supervisors.
  • Ensure that contract reviews align with The Salvation Armys mission and that budgets are balanced and orderly.
  • Ensure the highest level of professionalism in all communication with existing and potential program donors.
  • Monitor budgets with supervisors to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in media events conferences training and development opportunities funders provide.
  • Engage and support the community by participating in outreach efforts to increase awareness of the programs offered.
  • Maintain effective and cooperative interagency liaison relationships including attending meetings related to the area of concern.
  • Maintain productive relationships with officers employees and community partners.
  • Notify supervisors of media inquiries and potential community relations challenges.
  • Represent The Salvation Army and its services to funding sources regulatory bodies governmental agencies and the public.
  • Assist with short- and long-term recovery needs of disasters.
  • Assist with special events and seasonal programs.
  • Serve as an on-call staff member for emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

  • A bachelors degree in social work related field or equivalent social service work experience is required. Masters degree in social work preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of employee supervision is required.
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record required.
  • Previous experience serving the homeless population is required.
  • Contract and program fiscal management experience required.
  • Grant writing monitoring and reporting experience required.
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality thrive in a fast-paced setting and preserve a positive demeanor.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with community relationships in the federal state local and non-profit arenas preferred.
  • Must speak comfortably in public and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Must complete KeepSAfe and other required training upon hire.
  • Prior case management program management contract compliance and administrative experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Respect for all humankind and commitment to meet needs without discrimination.
  • Skill in managing multiple projects setting and meeting deadlines and effectively addressing and resolving crises to achieve positive results.
  • Willingness to lead employees with sleeves rolled up and a positive can-do attitude.
  • Willingness to travel within the Division (CT and RI).
  • Will understand respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army. The individual is not required to embrace the tenets of faith but they are required to promote and respect the mission of The Salvation Army.
