Direct Reports: Finance Manager IT Specialist and HR Generalist
FLSA Classification: Full Time Exempt
Date Approved: June 3 2025
Pay: $80-$88k annually
Summary
Participatory leader who ensures effective accurate and legal management analysis and reporting of all financial activity of the organization consistent with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Works as a collaborative leader to support program directors and department leaders in the development management and skill building regarding financial and budget management. Supports organizational operations by supervising Human Resources Director.
Duties and Responsibilities
Mission Alignment
Supports organizational strategic goals and annual planning to achieve the objectives of the YWCA Mission of Eliminating Racism Empowering Women and Promoting Peace Justice Freedom and Dignity for All.
Program Outcomes
Works in partnership with the CEO and Chief Program Officer (CPO) to lead the YW team in preparation of the annual operating budget to develop projections for earned and contributed income and expenses.
Overall financial management to meet established targets for budgeted expenditures and income with an understanding of the relationship between programs service delivery and finance.
Works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer Development Director Grant Writer to account for reconcile and run projections for incoming revenue and fundraising.
Maintains a comprehensive overview of all financial operations of the organization. Oversees annual budget as the operational plan for the organization.
Participates in the development of all organization programs providing information and insight concerning financial and legal impacts of program activities.
Develops and administers fiscal policies and controls to ensure effective management of all organizational financial assets.
Manages all organizational banking recommending banking institutions establishing and maintaining accounts and credit as dictated by financial policy or approved by CEO ensuring compliance with all recordkeeping and reporting standards and accuracy of all reports.
Oversees day-to-day accounting functions implemented by other staff employing systems to ensure accuracy legality and timeliness. Provides leadership and guidance to other staff to contain costs track expenditures and provide information for program operation within budgeted guidelines.
Establishes and implements payroll policies and procedures (including taxes retirement program employee insurance programs) consistent with the organizations personnel policies and all local state and federal employment laws. Maintains confidentiality of information to protect employees and the organization.
Is a staff liaison for the finance committee and works closely with the CEO to motivate guide and support the committees work. Supports the work of finance sub-committees.
Maintains the organizations balance sheet and provides status reports to CEO and board as needed.
Produces in conjunction with the external auditor the organizations annual 990 IRS Tax Return and a successful annual audit.
Collaborates with the CPO and Grant Coordinator to prepare grant application budgets manage grants received and produce reports on the financial aspects of grant funded activities.
Serves as the system administrator for Daxko. Oversees the management of the membership software Daxko to ensure optimal use upgrading and training.
Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
Supervises the Human Resources Director Finance Manager and IT Specialist.
Policies
Assures alignment with all YWCA policies.
Manages the organizations investments in accordance with established policies. Maintains relationships with advisors and others to ensure effective implementation of investment policies. Provides regular reports on investment activity to the CEO and finance committee.
Budget:
Manages finance and administration department budgets.
Required Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
Advanced technical skills in accounting finance and data analysis including expertise in financial modeling budgeting and forecasting.
Proven ability to assess and mitigate risk proactively identifying potential issues before they escalate.
Strong leadership capabilities including effective time management sound decision-making and the ability to motivate and guide staff.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
Four-year degree in Accounting and Finance (or related field) required.
Advanced degree in accounting business or finance preferred.
A minimum of ten years of experience administering an organizations accounting and finance functions including payroll.
Non-profit experience preferred.
3-5 years Management experience.
Experience with Quickbooks Online and/or Daxko a plus
An understanding of racial and gender inequity.
