Position Summary
The Pipe Burner performs a variety of duties involved in setting up and operating a plasma pipe burner automatic cut off saw and shot blast machine. Cuts and cleans all parts to specifications with minimum supervision. Works from prints layout specifications job orders production schedules and verbal instructions.
Measures of success:
- Timely completion of pipe cutting activities.
- Fulfillment of nozzle Kanban requirements within three days of notification
- Properly maintained pipe inventory with all coded markings being transferred properly.
- Accurate transactions within the work queue system and accurate Kanban transaction reporting.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Uses a variety of common hand and power tools hoists and forklift truck. Moves average weight material (25 lbs. to 60 lbs.) as necessary in the performance of job.
- Lays out work in conformance with specifications and checks measurements with a tape measure. Selects proper tips gas pressure cutting speeds and gear ratio settings to achieve high quality results. Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Monitors quality of work and reports machine malfunctions defective materials or unusual conditions to supervisor.
- Maintains operating and production records as required. Responsible for the proper transfer of pipe heat numbers.
- Maintains work area in a neat clean and orderly condition and observes all safety regulations and practices.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Over 3 months up to including 12 months experience in a machine shop fabrication shop or other heavy manufacturing environment.
- Must have previous fork truck experience.
- Use of drawings specifications production schedules verbal instructions and job orders where interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge.
- Must know how to operate a PC and be able to look up data and drawings as needed within the company MES system.
- Must have the ability to prioritize work and plan ahead to maximize up time on machines and ensure minimal scrap.
Preferred:
- Experience cutting pipe
- Experience operating Ban saw
Work Environment
This position works primarily in a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas. This position also requires the employee to go outside on a regular basis to move material from the exterior to the interior of the building.
This is an onsite position and requires reporting into the site every day
