INFORMATION

Title: Level:
Dean of Students Middle School Teacher

to:
Site Principal

OF ASSIGNMENT

Serve as liaison between staff students and community to maintain a positive and child-centered school climate as well as provide administrative support within a culturally diverse environment.

FUNCTIONS

a Positive and Child-Centered School Climate


and implement an effective system establishing positive relations between parents and the school.
facilitate and implement staff parent and student development activities enhancing a positive school climate.
and implement a support system for students (e.g. attendance discipline support teams academic success). Work with counselors and community support groups to provide services for students.
with the creation and implementation of a school-wide behavior management system for utilization by students while in the hallways lunchroom and classrooms; on playgrounds and buses; and when participating in athletics and curricular activities. Responsible for student discipline up to suspension.


Administrative Support


strong communication skills and work effectively in a highly collaborative setting.

QUALIFICATIONS

and Experience


Degree in education.
experience as a classroom teacher and/or in a support position.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities


proficiency in written and oral communication.
proficiency in the use of technology.
ability to interact positively with students staff parents and community.
of developmental characteristics and needs of early adolescents.
of middle school level philosophy and programs.
of state and federal rules and regulations for attendance/truancy.
of state and federal rules and regulations for discipline.

and Licenses
State Teaching Certification.


QUALIFCATIONS


1. Three (3) to five (5) years successful teaching or educational staff associate experience with increasing levels of responsibility in a school setting.
2. Masters degree in education or related field.
3. Washington State Administrator Credential or demonstrated interest in working towards that credential.
4. Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for special education.

5. Fluent Bilingual - Spanish


CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a regular school building.

directed by building administrator

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employees responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical dental vision long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems Plan. For eligibility information check on the link to theDepartment of Retirement Systems web site.

Employees also have the ability to participate in tax deferred 403(b) and 457 Deferred Compensation Plans (DCP). These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.

To enroll in an eligible 403(b) plan employees must consult with their own financial planner that is an approved vendor.

*Clover Park School District total possible pay consists of base salary plus the following:

Building Centered Responsibility - 5 days

District Centered Responsibility - 2.5 days

Event Responsibility - 1 day

Attendance required for compensation of responsibility pay (building-centered district-centered and event).
