Position Summary:
The Virginia Council on Economic Education (VCEE) seeks a highly motivated and qualified Director of Special programs.
The Director of Special Programs will lead and manage the strategic expansion of programs that equip the next generation of Virginians with critical economic and financial literacy skillsno matter where they live or go to school. These programs include:

This is a unique opportunity for a former classroom teacher or instructional leader with a passion for curriculum design student engagement and economic education experience to scale statewide programs that prepare Virginias K-12 students for lifelong financial and economic success. This position is ideal for a creative problem solver and instructional designer who can translate big ideas into meaningful programs that meet classroom needs and inspire students from all backgrounds. The Director of Special Programs will work across Virginia to ensure teachers are supported and students are engagedespecially those in underrepresented regions or underserved schools.
Typical Responsibilities:
Work alongside the Sr. Director of Professional Development to develop and deliver dynamic professional learning experiences to help teachers implement programs effectively.
Coach and support educators before during and after program implementation both in-person and virtually.
Ensure all program materials are educator-friendly standards-aligned and engaging for diverse learners.
Oversee the full lifecycle of each programfrom recruitment through execution and evaluation.
Manage timelines deliverables and budgets to ensure high-quality and on-time delivery.
Analyze data and generate reports to assess program impact and recommend improvements.
Develop efficient systems and processes for tracking participation and managing communications.
Serve as the primary point of contact for teachers school divisions regional university-based Centers for Economic Education and program partners.
Strategically grow participation across the state with a focus on underrepresented schools and communities.
Represent VCEE at conferences school events and professional association meetings.
Work on special projects and initiatives as needed to support the School of Business
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher in education or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience delivering K12 economics and personal finance education
Experience creating and adapting standards-aligned curriculum and instructional materials.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience leading high-energy and engaging professional development or training sessions.
Significant expertise in the use of instructional technology Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps for Education
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect professionalism and civility with a population of faculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong background in planning and managing educational programs or projects.
Proven ability to engage educators and build strong school and community partnerships.
Experience using project management tools and/or CRM planforms (e.g. Neon)
Additional Information:
Priority will be given to candidates who submit their applications by July 11th.
Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday 40 hours per week and may require periodic weekend and evening hours. This position is hybrid with work taking place both remotely and at the VCU School of Business in Richmond VA.
