PsychPhys is seeking an Endorsed Behaviour Support Practitioner.
This role (35 days/week) offers great flexibility and is based at our Reservoir Practice Site perfect for those wanting meaningful work and work-life balance in a supportive team environment.
The Role:
Positive Behavior Support Practitioner plays a key role in providing Behaviour Support Programs and Services tailored to clients within the North-West catchment area. The role consists of mentorship 1:1 Behavior Support multi-disciplinary Psychoeducational support; developing writing; and implementing Behavior Support Plans. The role works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of tailored services.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial Program Assessments
- Provide 1:1 Behavior Support/consultation to clients
- Support young people with social and/or high-risk behaviors
- Conduct Risk Assessments and initiate harm minimization strategies and techniques including Suicide and Violent risk provide referrals and treatment if in line with program policies and guidelines
- Provide Mentorship and peer consultation to Behavior Support Practitioners
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments
- Work in collaboration with Psychologists and Exercise Physiologists in the facilitation of programs to individuals and their families
- Initiate/attend Care Team Meetings
- Develop and implement Behavior Support Plans
- Deliver Psychoeducational group sessions with Exercise Physiologist if/when required
- Provide Psychoeducation to key stakeholders
- Comply with all Professional Development and supervision requirements as per operational requirements

- Demonstrate the ability to deliver and communicate sensitive information with individuals inclusive of culture age and cognition.

- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to identify risk and ensure mandatory reporting practices are initiated (where required)
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication with particular emphasis on interpersonal communication skill.
- Demonstrated experience working within Community Disability and/or working with Autism Spectrum Disorder Intellectual Disabilities Learning/Developmental delays Cognitive impairments and/or experiencing mental illness
- Demonstrate experience in the provision of evidence-based assessment and interventions.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and record-keeping.
- Demonstrate skill in working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competence in the use of information technology internet and desktop applications; e.g. electronic client record systems Google Workspace and database packages.
- Demonstrate strong commitment to improving health outcomes in individuals.
- Understanding of emotional intelligence and the ability to adapt to the individual as required.
- Understanding of the biopsychosocial model of care.
- Understanding of the current mental health challenges in the community.
- Understanding of the Positive Behaviour Support Capability Frameworks NDIS Quality and Safeguard Commission.
- Understanding of Restrictive Practices and code of ethics.
- Understanding of self managed time strategies when needed to work with minimal supervision.
- Enjoys health and fitness and promotes benefits of healthy independent living.
- Enjoys working in a team environment and a collaborative approach to therapy.
- Enjoys making a positive impact in the community especially with individuals presenting with ASD.
Qualifications:
- Endorsed Behaviour Support Practitioner would be preferred
- A tertiary qualification in Community Services Social Work Speech Pathology Occupational Therapy or other relevant health/community services certification/qualification and/or relative working experience.
- A satisfactory Police Criminal Check dated within 6 months of commencement.
- A valid Employee Working with Childrens Check.
- A current Drivers License
- Access to a vehicle for travel.
- A valid NDIS Worker Screening check.
- Full COVID-19 Vaccination
