Job Description

Army JROTC POSITION:

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be qualified by US Army Cadet Command (USACC) as an Army JROTC

Instructor. Qualification information is available at be retired from the Army in the rank of E-6 through MW-S.

Must have a minimum of an Associates Degree is required.

Must be a qualified Army Career Counselor.

Bilingual language skills.

Diversity Training skills.

Knowledge in coaching Raider Challenge drill team training.

Ability to work with students staff parents and other community patrons in an amiable

and productive manner.

Experience with student schedules comprehensive academic and career

planning/pathways.

Experience in working with children and families who are culturally linguistically and

racially diverse.

Commitment to life-long learning and professional growth.

Responsibilities:

Provide class room instruction using the Program of Instruction and automation

equipment provided to the high school by USACC to students in the 9th - 12th grades.

Work with high school students to build leadership and team work skills using military

structure and providing direction for all JROTC events.

Work hours outside of the normal school day in order to ensure the JROTC program

meets or exceeds all required activities specified in Cadet Command Regulations

(CCR) 145-2 and 14S-8-3.

Interact with high school administrators as a high school employee.

Complete all USACC required training requirements. Training consists of on-line

courses and on-site training sponsored at the USACC level and the brigade level.

Meet all suspenses for reporting to USACC.

Effectively communicate with the brigade JROTC Section.

Interact with high school and community groups and support events with JROTC

Cadets as appropriate.

Help implement a developmental guidance curriculum.

Guide individuals and groups of students through the development of educational and

career plans.

Counsel individual students.

Counsel small groups of students.

Use accepted theories and techniques appropriate to school counseling.

Consult with parents teachers administrators and other relevant individuals to

enhance their work with students.

Coordinate with school and community personnel to bring together resources for

students.

Participate in the planning and evaluation of the DistricUschool group standardized

testing program.

Interpret test and other appraisal results appropriately.

Work cooperatively and effectively with teams.

Adhere to ethical legal and professional standards.

Adhere to District policies regulations and procedures.

Distinguishing Characteristics: This position classification requires subject matter

expertise commonly taught in public schools and counseling and guidance knowledge

and skills. Responsible and directly related experience is required to perform problem

analysis using widely prescribed principles and concepts. The position classification

performs decision analysis and makes decisions of considerable consequence

requiring the application and interpretation of data facts procedures and policies. The

incumbents meet frequently with school administrators teachers other staff and

parents to communicate information data and alternative problem solutions.
