Our Seattle office has an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal to support transactional attorneys in our growing Real Estate team. This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Office Administrator.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated proactive and possess strong communication skills. A commitment to client service with strong attention to detail is essential as is excellent project management skills. This position works under the supervision of attorneys and is eligible for a hybrid work in-office/work from home schedule. The successful candidate should anticipate being in the office a minimum of two (2) days a week depending on team needs and workload. The successful candidate may support attorneys in our other BakerHostetler offices as well as Seattle based attorneys.
Responsibilities:
- Delivers excellent work and superior service to the Firms clients; contributes to the Firms reputation for excellence by providing highly efficient and effective support to a growing legal team.
- Prepares legal documents such as transactional closing documents and binders title insurance policies and endorsements including deeds bills of sale assignments etc. for review approval and use by attorney.
- Initiates due diligence investigations regarding municipal liens open permits zoning UCC bankruptcy federal and county taxes environmental engineering surveys current leases service/management contracts and entity qualification searches.
- Prepares real estate closing statement calculates prorations prepares trust receipt and payment documentation and wire transmittal letters confirms wire instructions and disburses closing funds.
- Coordinates execution and delivery of closing documents and assists in closing process.
- Conducts post-closing work including recordation of documents updating title to issue policies and preparation of document files and binders.
- Provides clear and proactive communication to balance the teams workload to ensure completion of projects within established time frames and quality standards.
- A strong attention to detail and the ability to anticipate peripheral needs is crucial.
- Other duties as requested and assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree and/or Paralegal Certificate is preferred; equivalent combination of education training and experience may substitute for preferred education. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years experience drafting purchase and sale agreements title and survey review and managing closings is required.
- Interpersonal communication skills necessary in order to maintain effective relationships with partners attorneys clients and staff in-person by e-mail and telephone.
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service and be able to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Microsoft Office Suite including Word Outlook and Excel as well as document management systems such as NetDocs.
- Advanced skills in Word to include using styles track changes and document comparison programs is required.
The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $81896.52 - $122499.53. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to experience level education/training and relevant skills.
