The counselor collaborates with teachers administrators families and community resources to help students build positive self-esteem develop interpersonal skills and navigate academic and behavioral challenges. The role involves both direct support (individual and group counseling) and indirect services (consultation referrals and school-wide initiatives).We are seeking a counselor with experience in a community school setting and a love of children and who has a commitment to:Student Support: The school counselor would provide short-term individual and small group counseling for students experiencing academic social behavioral or emotional difficulties. In addition they would develop and deliver classroom guidance lessons focused on social-emotional learning conflict resolution bullying prevention and career awareness while assisting students in developing skills such as self-regulation coping strategies goal setting and . The school counselor will meet with teachers regularly to help build their capacity to meet the social emotional needs of all learners they will teach social emotional learning to small groups of students and collaborate routinely with teachers paras administrators interventionists and families to create support plans for and Trauma Responsive Practices: The counselor should be well versed in restorative and trauma responsive practices and be able to work with teachers to mediate conflict engage in collaborative problem solving with students and model an ethic of calm in all a culture of inclusion and belonging that is characterized by responsiveness to students social and emotional needs is rooted in deep relationships with students and fosters a climate of respect with both young people and as partners: The ideal candidate will have a history of working collaboratively with community resources and can act as a connector among resources in the community and with management: The ideal candidate would develop implement and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program in alignment with ASCA (American School Counselor Association) National Model.
