Job Duties & Key ResponsibilitiesWe seek a dynamic innovative and passionate Part-Time Theater Teacher who will design and implement a theater program with a focus on encouraging students to express themselves on stage in a way that enables them to try new things be brave and develop into the best version of themselves. Acera School strives to incorporate and encourage students choice and voice into their education and creative pursuits. The expectations for this position include:
- Design and teach a (75 minute) theater class for elementary students on Friday afternoons.
- Create and lead one to two (60 to 105 minute) classes in theater and improv on Wednesdays for elementary and/or middle school students.
- Facilitate warm-ups and games with students to help build their confidence their comfort with self-expression and a sense of community.
- Develop theater and performance skills through workshops and activities
- Support student groups to prepare and bring alive culminating theater performances including costumes sets and props as appropriate.
- Direct culminating performances. Additional paid weekend/evening hours required for production.
- Support students families and Core teachers through classroom observations feedback and progress report writing to support a parent partnership educational model which communicates openly honestly and with compassion.
- Demonstrate a passion for lifelong learning by actively pursuing professional growth engaging in reflection and embracing feedback.
- Respond to your students through the use of differentiated instruction strategies to support gifted learners with diverse profilesincluding asynchronous development sensory needs and advanced cognitive abilities.
QualificationsThe candidate will be responsible for collaborating with faculty and staff to teach in support of the schools mission and curricular goals. The ideal candidate possesses creative problem-solving skills a sense of humor enthusiasm for designing innovative curriculum is a self-starter with a can-do approach and has strong interpersonal skills that allow them to cooperate and collaborate effectively with others. We seek a teacher with a kind heart a thoughtful mind and a generous spirit as well as a growth mindset and enthusiasm for ongoing learning and professional specific qualifications for this position include:
- Three (3) or more years of theater teaching experience.
- Experience with elementary and middle school learners.
- Bachelors degree required masters preferred
Salary & Benefits- Salary is competitive and will be determined based on experience.
- School year position part-time with potential to extend by teaching during summer enrichment
