Job Description

Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities programs training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.

As the Policy & Research Officer you will be responsible for supporting and contributing to the work of the Carers NSW Policy and Research Teams through policy analysis systemic advocacy research and consultation activities in relation to issues affecting carers.

This is a part time 4 day per week position.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Qualifications in Social or Political Science Social Work Public Health or other relevant areas
  • Strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including a strong track record of high-quality written reports and presentations
  • Demonstrated experience writing submissions in response to government consultations inquiries and reviews
  • Demonstrated experience analysing and interpreting quantitative data (e.g. Australian Bureau of Statistics data and research survey data) and communicating key findings and implications
  • Strong time management skills with demonstrated capacity to balance multiple competing priorities and maintain attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills with experience applying evidence to identify policy issues and solutions
  • Understanding of NSW and Australian Government policy development
  • Proven track record in liaising and building effective relationships with government non-government and community organisations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Employment Requirements:

Salary and Benefits
