The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has three major operational divisions: Colorado National Guard (Army and Air) Civil Air Patrol and Veterans Affairs. These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities State and nation with a ready military force for national defense and State emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado Veterans.

This position is term-limited for six months from the date of hire and the selected candidate will sign a waiver of appeal and retention rights upon hire. The DMVA may at the discretion of DMVA administration reserve the right to temporarily extend the end date and/or abolish the position before the end date. This position works for the Division of Veterans Affairs and exists to assist incarcerated veterans in securing benefits and entitlements enacted by Title 38 United States Code and various Colorado Revised Statutes for veterans and other eligible persons. This position works in local state and federal prisons to provide assistance to incarcerated veterans across the state of Colorado. The duties of this position include filing claims providing updates and assisting incarcerated veterans with other Veterans Affairs issues. This position is also responsible for tracking statistics on the program coordinating with Bureau of Prisons personnel for assisting veterans and improving the program to make it more efficient. This position will maintain and develop a standard operating procedure that can be replicated in other prison facilities across the state.
