Job Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Energy Market Risk Analyst to join our Risk Management team. This role is critical in identifying assessing and mitigating market risks associated with energy trading activities including power natural gas power crude ngl and LNG. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of energy markets strong quantitative skills and the ability to communicate complex risk concepts to stakeholders across the organization.

Position Overview

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Monitor and analyze market risk exposures across energy trading portfolios
  • Develop and maintain risk reporting tools for the monitoring and reporting of exposure VaR and earnings
  • Provide daily weekly and monthly risk reporting to senior management and trading desks
  • Collaborate with front office middle office and compliance teams to ensure risk policies are adhered to
  • Evaluate new trading strategies and products for risk implications
  • Support the development and enhancement of risk systems and tools
  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Support modeling of proposed trading scenarios and structured products
  • Participate in business improvement projects that might include supporting or leading cross-functional teams that implement systems enhancements and/or new business processes

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Bachelors degree or higher in Finance Economics Engineering Mathematics other related field or foreign equivalent
  • 5 or more years of experience in energy market risk trading risk or a related analytical role
  • 5 or more years of experience with energy commodities such as electricity natural gas crude or LNG
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Excel
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in data visualization skills
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of SQL and data visualization tools (e.g. Spotfire Power BI or related programs)

Preferred:

  • Advanced level of proficiency in the development or maintenance of complex models
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in risk modeling tools and platforms
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of physical and financial products/contracts used in commodity trading and risk management (swaps options futures and forwards)
  • Beginner level of knowledge of Right Angle and/or TriplePoint ETRM systems techniques
  • Beginner level of knowledge of machine learning or advanced statistical
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to drive change and improve work processes
  • Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
  • Listens actively and invites new ideas for shared understanding then influences and acts to drive performance and achieve results
