Job Description

COMPANY OVERVIEW

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer the Safety Manager - Houston is responsible for overseeing and promoting the health and safety of all employees across company job sites. This role works closely with Project Managers field personnel and the Executive Management Team to ensure full compliance with OSHA EPA and other applicable safety regulations.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced dynamic environment and demonstrates a strong commitment to implementing and maintaining effective safety and health programs. This position requires regular travel to branch offices job sites and customer facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to performing the following:

  • Maintain update and implement safety programs including all required OSHA training components
  • Ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping for all safety programs and training activities
  • Lead and facilitate all organizational Safety Committee meetings
  • Conduct inspections and monitor all job sites to ensure compliance withOSHA EPA and other applicable regulations
  • Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies including OSHA EPA and State/Local authorities
  • Provide guidance training and support to all levels of management and staff to meet HSE objectives and maintain regulatory compliance
  • Ensure company-wide adherence to local state and federal environmental health and safety regulations
  • Participate in and oversee accident investigations ensuring thorough root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
  • Act as the subject matter expert on specific safety and health programs
  • Manage site-specific safety programs to ensure a safe working environment across all job sites
  • Promote a culture of safety and drive initiatives aimed at achieving zero incidents
  • Track analyze and report on health and safety performance metrics across the organization
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of claims management and workers compensation reporting requirements
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to conduct job site visits and safety audits
  • Other duties as assigned or required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Safety Manager - Houston is responsible for the Houston office and coordinating with other Safety areas.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES

PERFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in safety & health EH&S Management or equivalent is preferred
  • OSHA Outreach Instructor Certification for Construction required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire
  • ASP certification preferred
  • Professional certification from BCSP or other safety certifications is a plus
  • Minimum of 7 years of safety-related experience required
  • Experience in the EHS Construction industry is highly desirable
  • Additional certifications or advanced degrees in safety environmental science or related disciplines are a plus

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate cooperate and collaborate with multiple levels of employees government agencies customers vendors and suppliers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those associated with working in a typical office environment and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk talk and hear. Frequent use of hands and fingers are necessary to handle feel or operate objects tools or controls. The role also involves reaching with hands and arms climbing or balancing and performing physical movements such as stooping kneeling crouching or crawling. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Vision requirements for this position include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

This role is classified as medium work which involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may expect to work in typical office environment conditions except when visiting field locations. Field environments may vary based on project manufacturing or weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Due to these conditions the position frequently requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including eye foot and head protection and may occasionally require additional protection for the arms hearing full body legs respiratory system and skin.
