Summary of Job Duties:

A Program Technician position is available with Dr. Shawna Weimer in the Department of Poultry Science at the University of Arkansas. The individual will assist Dr. Weimer in diverse research and outreach settings. The individual must be willing to travel and work collaboratively as part of a team. The individual will assist with research experiments and stakeholder engagement activities in the field of animal welfare. Research projects will be conducted in diverse settings from on-farm field studies on commercial farms to controlled environment animal experiments. The individual is expected to assist in every phase of research and personnel management including supervising undergraduate and graduate students on the farm and in the laboratory. The individual is expected to organize train and oversee diverse groups of students on several simultaneous research projects. The individual must be able to work with live birds and mammals organs and tissues chemicals and audio-visual equipment. Research project duties will include animal care wet and computer laboratory procedures and data management. The individual should be an effective communicator and while based in the Center for Food Animal Wellbeing will work with collaborators across campus as well as other universities and organizations.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Drivers License
  • B.S. degree in Poultry or Animal Science or other related sciences including Ethology Neurobiology Psychology or related field.
