Job Description
Essex Westford School District (EWSD) has an opportunity fora part-time Individual Assistantto join the team at WestfordElementary School.This position supports and supervises a student with intensive special needs in the morning preschool session. The hours are 7:15 to 11:00 AM Mon/Tue/Thur/Fri with no classes on Wednesday (approximately 15 hours/week).
The position involvesimplementing the students individual educational program; assisting the student with self care and with communicating with others using alternative or augmentative communication systems; playing a supportive role in assessing the progress and needs of the assigned student; and participate in developing and modifying individualized instructional materials and programs.
Position pays $22.43/hour depending on experience.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- Experience working with children/adolescents
- Good working knowledge of children
- Able to assist the student physically
- Training/experience working with student who have intensive special needs desirable
- Experience in a school setting preferred
- Knowledge of special education students and special education teaching methods preferred
- Basic health care or nursing nurses aid training/experiencepreferred
