Job Description

Ward Clerk - Acute & Urgent Care Centre (UCC)

  • Part Time Permanent Contract
  • Available shifts are - PM Shift times 16.30 to 21.00
  • Weekday and Weekend availabilities a must
  • Penalties and shift allowances apply

About the role

The role of Ward Clerk Acute Ward and Urgent Care Centre (UCC) provides the first point of contact at the ward and UCC for patients and visitors attending Yarrawonga Health.

The Ward Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely maintenance of patient records and data supporting the coordination of patient flow and administrative processes across the health service.

The Ward Clerk is to provide a high standard of reception and administrative support to the multidisciplinary staff of the health service. The position involves liaising with all Yarrawonga Health nursing medical and ancillary staff immediate supervisors and other management roles as required.

The position of Ward Clerk requires the ability to be flexible and have enthusiasm for variety in all aspects of the role. There will be the opportunity to cover leave as it arises so having the flexibility to work additional hours would be advantageous.

Please note: It is a requirement of this position to work across a variety of rostered weekends and public holidays.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated excellence in customer serviceand the ability to provide a professional compassionate first point of contact for patients families and visitors.
  2. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Proven reliability and strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accuracy in a busy clinical environment.
  4. Certificate III or IV in Business Administrationor equivalent clerical experience with sound knowledge of administrative processes and medical terminology.
  5. Proficiency in using patient administration systems particularly and Microsoft Office applications at an intermediate level or above.
  6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team demonstrating initiative flexibility and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  7. Understanding of confidentiality privacy and workplace safety requirements and the ability to adhere to organisational policies and procedures.
