Job Title: Assistant Football Coach
Reports To: Head Football Coach & Athletic Director
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
- The assistant football coach will assist with all aspects of the high school program. The coach will also assist with the coordinating of the middle school program to help develop the feeder system for the high school program. The coach is responsible for teaching the athletes techniques skills and strategies that prepare the athletes for competition.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Will assist the head coach in all of the following areas:
- Hold organizational meetings for team recruitment.
- Develop a pre-season schedule for the athletes that includes; conditioning strength training and skill development.
- Work with the administration to develop the season schedule.
- Work with the administrative assistant to ensure all essential paperwork and information is turned in to the athletic department.
- Conduct tryouts for the football program.
- Develop practice plans and schedules to help the players develop.
- Coach and instruct players regarding the rules regulations and skills of the game.
- Develop individual and team strategies for the season based on personnel.
- Monitor academic progress of the student athletes.
- Work with the athletic trainer to help injured athletes return to practice/play.
- Model good sportsmanship and appropriate conduct and expect the same from the players.
- Maintain good standing with the NLCS HHC IHSAA and IFCA.
- Assist players that want to play at the next level (eligibility and recruiting).
- Recruit athletes to play football and encourage them to play multiple sports.
- Monitor the development of football athletes (academically and athletically)
- Develop a social media presence.
- Work with local media to promote the sport.
- Complete the end of season checklist in a timely manner.
- Host end of season banquet or event for players (parents also if desired).
- Promote student athletes for postseason awards (HHC All-State Academic All-State)
- Assist the athletic director with hosting IHSAA events.
- Coordinate off season training opportunities for athletes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in football as a player and/or coach is preferred.
- Knowledge of the techniques strategies and skills of football.
- Valid teaching certificate and bachelors degree preferred.
- A passion for working with student athletes and for the sport of football.
- Background check and completed checklist.
