About the position

Councils Safer CommunitiesDepartment is looking for School Crossing Supervisors who will be responsible for:

  • Providing supervision to and ensuring the safety of children and the general public using the school crossings
  • Contributing to the development of high-quality customer service to all members of the public
  • Performing all duties in a manner which promotes effective teamwork and good public relations

This role requires staff with a demonstrated ability to make responsible decisions and an ability to relate to and communicate with young children. The position requires working casually across our municipality (sometimes at short notice) both morning and afternoon shifts of approximately one hour per shift on designated school days as and when required.

Successful candidates must be reliable and punctual have their own vehicle and smart phone be well presented and able to accept responsibility for children and other pedestrians under their care when crossing busy roads around schools in all weather conditions.

This is a casual role working up to 10 hours per week. You will be working maximum two hours per day.


About you

  • Adequate physical fitness and mobility applicable to this position (including vision and hearing)
  • Ability to understand and maintain general knowledge of the Victorian Road Rules in relation to School Crossings
  • Demonstrated awareness of relevant health and safety issues

This position is aBand 1Acurrently remunerated at$39.81per annum plus superannuation.

Successful candidates will be asked to undertake a functional capacity assessment (physical) test will be asked to produce a clear Working with Children Check and to consent to and complete a national police check.
