Job Description:

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency that focuses on issues critical to the regions success including growth and development transportation water resources services for older adults and workforce solutions. ARC is dedicated to unifying the regions collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous future. This is done through professional planning initiatives the provision of objective information and the involvement of the community in collaborative partnerships.

The Human Resources Department is seeking a dynamic and motivated HR Intern to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive Employee Wellness Program. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of human resources public health and employee engagement helping shape a more supportive and health-conscious workplace for our organization.

This role is ideal for a graduate student pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) Health Promotion Health Administration or a related field who is passionate about wellness innovation program development and creating equitable access to employee resources.

This temporary position is not eligible for benefits; working up to 29 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts a thorough assessment of current employee wellness needs and industry best practices;
  • Develops a formalized evidence-based Employee Wellness Program aligned with our organizational values and workforce demographics;
  • Supports the expansion of Employee Wellness Benefits including mental health financial wellness and preventive care options;
  • Identifies and builds partnerships with local health organizations clinics or fitness providers to explore onsite or hybrid wellness initiatives;
  • Assists in creating employee-facing materials communications and engagement strategies to promote wellness activities;
  • Evaluates and recommends technology tools or wellness platforms to support implementation and ongoing program management;
  • Collaborates with HR leadership on program design budgeting metrics and scalability recommendations;
  • Drafts a roadmap and implementation plan for HR to sustain the wellness program post-internship;
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support agency goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) Health Promotion Health Administration or a related health and human services program.

Required Knowledge Skills Abilities and Competencies:

  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable program components
  • Excellent communication presentation and writing skills
  • Passionate about employee well-being public health equity and workplace culture
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and meet project milestones
  • Experience or coursework in wellness program development employee engagement or HR benefits preferred
