Job Description

Responsibilities
We are currently seeking dedicated and caring CNA to join our team in our sub-acute rehabilitation unit. As a CNA you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and support to individuals recovering from illness injury or surgery. You will work under the supervision of licensed nurses and contribute to a positive and healing environment for our patients.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing dressing eating toileting and ambulation.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature pulse respiration blood pressure) as directed.
- Observe patients for changes in condition and report any concerns to the nursing staff immediately.
- Assist with a range of motion exercises and other therapeutic activities as directed.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
Qualifications
- Six (6) months of recent hospital or long-term care facility experience as a CNA
- High school education
- Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant program
- Nurse Assistant Certification (CT NA)
- CPR certification (CT CPRBLS)
Special Skills:
- Communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing clearly concisely and accurately.
- Ability to utilize and learn new computer programs for documentation
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Operate IVAC thermometer vital sign check machine blood pressure cuff.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic procedures
- Ability to educate family members regarding appropriate activities listed below as indicated by ability of resident and willingness of family
- Ability to perform care functions that may include but not necessarily be limited to:
- Ambulation
- Eating assistance
- ADLs
- ROM (AROM & PROM)
- Bowel and Bladder Training
- Splint/Brace/Prosthesis placement/care
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
