Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Senior HVAC Maintenance Engineer with extensive experience in the operation maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC systems in large-scale commercial institutional or industrial facilities. The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing the preventive and corrective maintenance of chillers VRV/VRF systems AHUs FCUs ventilation fans and associated control systems.

The engineer will manage on-site maintenance activities lead HVAC maintenance teams coordinate with automation/BMS teams and ensure system performance is optimized across multiple projects in West Africa.



Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and execute preventive and corrective maintenance of all HVAC equipment including chillers air handling units (AHUs) fan coil units (FCUs) exhaust and ventilation fans and split/VRV systems.

Diagnose and resolve mechanical and control system failures to ensure uninterrupted HVAC operations.

Review and interpret HVAC shop drawings O&M manuals wiring diagrams and control sequences to perform maintenance efficiently.

Plan and implement maintenance schedules aligned with OEM recommendations and operational demands.

Ensure HVAC systems are operating within design specifications efficiency parameters and safety standards.

Coordinate with BMS and electrical teams to resolve system interface and automation issues.

Lead on-site technicians provide technical support and conduct hands-on training.

Maintain accurate maintenance logs service reports and parts inventories.

Prepare and submit regular performance reports and technical assessments to management.

Recommend and supervise system upgrades component replacements and energy-saving initiatives.

Ensure full compliance with HSE standards manufacturer guidelines and internal QA/QC protocols.



Requirements

Requirements:

Bachelor s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering HVAC Technology or a related field.

Minimum 10 years of experience in HVAC system maintenance with at least 3 years in a senior/supervisory role.

Deep knowledge of chillers (air- and water-cooled) ducted systems VRV/VRF systems and building ventilation equipment.

Familiarity with BMS-integrated HVAC systems particularly interfacing with Siemens Schneider or Honeywell platforms.

Proven experience reading and interpreting schematics P&IDs and maintenance manuals.

Strong troubleshooting skills and practical knowledge of HVAC control logic and sequence of operations.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook); experience with CMMS software is an advantage.

Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Willingness to work on-site full-time in Nigeria Ghana or Ivory Coast under long-term maintenance contracts.


Preferred Candidate Profile:

Hands-on leader with a high level of technical discipline.

Comfortable managing field teams and ensuring service quality in remote or international locations.

Fluent in English; French language skills are an advantage.

Familiar with ASHRAE SMACNA and international HVAC maintenance standards.
