Job Description

R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited (Burnside) has an opening for a highly-motivated detail-oriented and results-driven Proposal Coordinator to assist us with creating successful engineering proposals. This role is ideal for someone who is a self-starter and has proven themselves to be a team player. Related experience in the consulting or engineering industry is an asset.

We are open to considering candidates who are willing to work from any of our 10 southern Ontario office locations.

Role Specifics

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Working with various technical disciplines to coordinate all aspects of the proposal development process from the receipt of the Request for Proposals (RFP) through proposal document production (main body appendices schedule and pricing) to final submission to the client;
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage technical content and graphics for proposals;
  • Compile inputs from multiple contributors including your own into a polished high-quality and cohesive proposal document;
  • Track and manage proposal deadlines submission requirements and delivery logistics;
  • Review proposal bids and client/budget analysis and trends.
  • Support the development of proposal content by editing and formatting technical and corporate materials to align with Burnsides values branding and messaging;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Professional Knowledge Skills & Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have:

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Marketing Communications Business English Journalism Technical Writing or a related discipline.
  • 2-3 years of engineering proposal writing/coordination (or related) experience;
  • Experience working in the consulting engineering industry would be considered an asset;
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills for dealing with internal and external clients;
  • Ability to thrive under tight timelines and work in a dynamic environment while interacting with multiple offices and teams;
  • A high level of proficiency with Microsoft 365 including SharePoint;
  • Advanced listening skills with a demonstrated ability to accurately summarize information provided in interviews and meetings;
  • Excellent organizational skills and superior attention to details;
  • Strong editing skills and a solid command of the English language.
