Job Description

One of the Pacific Northwests most storied and celebrated newspapers The Astorian has an opening in our newsroom for a reporter.


The Astorian is in the midst of reimagining how we connect news to our region and looking for reporter candidates as excited as we are about capturing the spirit of our scenic and historic communities. You must have unlimited curiosity polished writing skills and a rigorous work ethic - brave enough to pursue challenging projects and humble enough to cover classroom successes summer festivals and convoluted local politics. Be confident in taking photos maintaining an up-to-date social media presence and challenging assumptions.

Lifestyle attractions include world-class pedestrian and water trails dozens of miles of ocean and river beaches amazing wildlife and close proximity to Portland and Seattle. A major regional tourist destination our population swells by tens of thousands on summer weekends. Bolstering our reputation as a center for historical/cultural/recreational tourism are Lewis and Clark National Park Fort Stevens State Park an expansive National Wildlife Refuge system and easy access to surf breaks secluded beaches and much more.
