Job Description
TITLE: Physical Education/Health Teacher High SchoolSUMMARY: Reporting to the Building Principal the Physical Education/Health Teacher is responsible for developing student understanding of the relationship of good body function and exercise; to motivate students to cultivate physical fitness hygienic habits and good social and emotional adjustment; discover and develop talents of students in physical achievement; to develop strength skill agility poise and coordination in individual dual and team physical activities and sports in accordance with each pupils ability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Willingness to collaborate with colleagues to plan well-structured units of instruction that are aligned to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for Physical Education and for developing and maintaining a classroom environment that is conducive to high quality learning and for using formative assessment data to inform and adjust practice in service of student for assisting building level administration in supervision of all students and for enforcing all school-wide polices. Responsible for using a variety of two-way communication strategies to elicit the support and partnership of families in ensuring that our students successfully access the curriculum. Responsible for using student learning data to regularly inform and adjust instructional be a team player who contributes in a positive way to the school culture and to accept feedback from administration to improve instructional duties as assigned by building level QUALIFICATIONS:Education and ExperienceMasters Degree preferred; Bachelors Degree required. Must possess DESE license in the applicable content experience supervising athletic activities and high school-level coaching preferred. CPR/AED/First Aid certification Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of physical education athletics scheduling and coaching; use of computer equipment internet applications and software. Skill-based competencies include working well with diverse backgrounds; resolving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; remaining open to others ideas; contributing to building a positive team spirit; communicating effectively; presenting information; and responding to -based competencies include responding to common inquiries from students and parents; comprehending documents such as safety rules operating instructions procedure manuals and regulations; and preparing general reports and DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job employee is required to communicate and comprehend; lift transport and/or move equipment up to 30 pounds and at times up to 100 pounds; ascend and descend stairs ropes or ladders. Vision requirements: close/distance vision and adjusting focus/peripherals; demonstration of technique/skills for athletic participation. WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is generally performed in a school environment athletic field athletic setting indoors and outdoors. The noise level is usually moderate to loud but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities. Employee may be exposed to bodily fluids and/or blood borne essential duties and responsibilities listed are intended only as an illustration of the type of work that may be performed.
