Position Summary
US Sailing is seeking a senior experienced and analytical accounting professional with strong business acumen and the ability to support our organizations financial operations.
The ideal candidate is an independent resourceful and detail oriented strategic thinker who possesses strong analytical skills excellent communication skills and strong leadership skills. This role will require advanced Excel skills as well as a deep understanding of the financial statements and how they interrelate.
What youll be doing:
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely and accurate monthly quarterly and year-end close processes
- Reconcile bank statements investment accounts and other balance sheet accounts
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable to ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions
- Manage asset inventories including Olympic department and retail inventories
- Assist with preparing financial statements and reports for management funders and auditors
- Assist with budgeting forecasting and financial analysis for programs and organizational planning
- Track and manage restricted and unrestricted funding including grant reporting and compliance
- Assist with preparing state and local tax returns and annual reports for US Sailing and the US Sailing Foundation
- Ensure compliance with internal controls GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Support annual audits including preparation of audit schedules and working papers
- Work closely with the Development team to align financial reporting with donor and grant requirements
- Contribute to process improvements and the implementation of new financial systems and tools
Who you are:
- A highly motivated results-oriented and forward-thinking team player with a strong work ethic credibility and sense of integrity
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
- Strong understanding of non-profit accounting and financial data analysis
- Minimum of 6 years of experience preferable with 2-4 years in public accounting
- Possess strong personal communication skills
- Possess strong organizational skills attention to detail and be process oriented
- Ability to multitask prioritize and delegate responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner
- Proficiency in accounting software Sage Intaact & Sage Intaact Planning experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite particularly Excel
- Belief in the Olympic movement
