Job Description

Inclusive Education Teacher (Distance Learning)

ASCEND Online is a distance learning school operated by the Catholic Independent Schools of the Kamloops Diocese. The school enrolls approximately 700 students from Kindergarten to Grade Twelve. ASCEND is seeking a qualified BC certified teacher as an Inclusive Education Caseload Manager and Contact Teacher effective September 1 2025 through to June 30 2026. This position is an independent contractor position. Teachers must be available to travel and meet face to face with families at certain points

throughout the year.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess:

  • Experience planning and implementing educational programs for students with diverse needs
  • Relevant education and training in the area of Inclusive Education
  • Familiarity with BCs New Curriculum
  • The ability to adapt learning opportunities to meet the needs of students
  • Experience with IEP writing and facilitating IEP team meetings
  • Experience coordinating a variety of community supports including both professional and paraprofessional supports for students with diverse needs
Responsibilities as a Contact Teacher include but are not limited to:
  • To nurture and integrate the Catholic worldview into the formal and informal programming and curriculum of the distance learning School.
  • Attending any staff meetings inspections conferences as required by
the ASCEND administration of the CISKD.
  • Maintaining the Contractors own computer equipment office and communication equipment (scanner and phone answering system) and internet connection to reasonably current standards.
  • Visit the family a minimum of two times per year as well as maintain weekly communication with them about the programs and services via email phone or Zoom/Skype etc. If unable to make contact with a family for more than two weeks the contractor will notify an ASCEND Coordinator as well as the Principal of ASCEND.
  • Respond to student/family emails phone messages and/or faxes within 24 hours as outlined in the ASCEND Communication Policy and Protocol
  • Follow CISKD Board policies administrative applications regulations
and directives.
