We are seeking a Data Technician apprenticeship who will be supporting the collection processing and analysis of data to aid in business decisionmaking. By joining us as an apprentice you will be working towards Data Technician apprenticeship (Level 3).
Contract: Initially a fixed term contract for 18 months to cover the lifetime of the apprenticeship. On successfully passing your apprenticeship qualification we are committed to offering a suitable permanent position.
Working hours: 35 hours per week is full time. As an apprentice you will be spending 20% of your time on offthe job learning which includes attending lectures/tutorials with your training provider. Where possible we are open to considering part time/flexible working patterns. Please let us know in your application your desired working pattern.

Our permanent hybrid policy sees us all working at least four days across a fortnight in the office.

At the Financial Ombudsman Service we make decisions on a range of complex and difficult issues. Every year we resolve thousands of disputes between consumers or small businesses and their financial service providers.
The purpose of your role
Your primary goal is to support the collection processing and analysis of data to aid in business decisionmaking. You will also be responsible for communicating results verbally through reports and technical documentation and tailoring the message for the audience. Additionally you will collaborate with team members to identify data requirements and provide necessary support while ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and company policies. This role will also involve participating in training and development activities to enhance your technical skills and supporting the implementation of data management best practice.
Youre accountable for

Generating reports and visualizations to present data findings to stakeholders.
Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and company policies.
Participating in training and development activities to enhance technical skills.

Troubleshooting datarelated issues and providing solutions.
Documenting data processes and procedures for future reference.
Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to gather and clarify data requirements.
Your skills/ experience includes
Willingness to Learn:A strong desire to learn and develop new skills in data collection processing and analysis.
Basic Computer Skills:Familiarity with basic computer operations and software applications such as Microsoft Office.
Communication:Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
Teamwork:Willingness to collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive team environment.
Attention to Detail:A keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in data handling and reporting.
ProblemSolving:Basic problemsolving skills to troubleshoot datarelated issues with guidance.
Other requirements
You will have achieved 5 GSCEs at grade AC including English and Maths (or equivalent qualification)
On enrolment onto the apprenticeship (September 2025) you will not be in fulltime education in or receiving of funding for other learning programmes.
You will need a full UK Right to Work for the duration of their apprenticeship and have valid and eligible residency status and be resident in the UK for 3 years before the start of the eligibility details can be foundhereat Annex A. The recruitment process
Once you have applied the recruitment process is as follows:
Online tests: The team will review qualifications once the job advert has closed. If you meet the qualification requirements you will be emailed tests to complete which must be completed within 72 hours. The tests are:
Cognitive Ability test to assess your problem solving critical thinking and attention to detail
Workplace Behaviour Assessment to evaluate if youd be happy in the role applied for.
Ondemand Video interview: If you pass the previous stage you will be sent ondemand video interviews to complete. This is your opportunity to tell us why you have applied for an apprenticeship and how you feel you would be a good fit for the apprenticeship you applied for. You have 72 hours to complete this step. If you are successful you will be invited to an interview.

Face to face interview: If you are successful after the video interview you will be invited to an interview with your future team. Here we are looking to understand if you have the skills to excel in the apprenticeship. It is also your opportunity to learn more about the Financial Ombudsman Service and what youll be doing as an apprentice. A full job profile is available on request and will be provided to candidates shortlisted to the first stage of the assessment process.
